The United Workforce Group of Alberta (UWGAB) is committed to delivering exceptional service to its members. We are readily available by phone and email for questions and concerns, and we provide support in conflict resolution, workplace investigations, grievances, and arbitrations. We also conduct regular site visits, represent our members in negotiations with management, and advocate for fair and competitive collective agreements. These agreements often include industry-leading wages, retirement savings plans, health and welfare benefits, and opportunities for training and career advancement. We’re here for you — every step of the way.
The United Workforce Group of Alberta reflects a commitment to solidarity, inclusiveness, and worker-led representation across the industry. Our vision embraces collaboration — not just between members and leadership, but also through partnerships with other unions and organizations that expand access to work and strengthen labour outcomes.
Purpose: Organizing with a Collaborative SpiritAt its core, UWGAB exists to organize and empower workers through collective bargaining, mutual support, and strong, solutions-focused relationships with employers. We believe that worker well-being and company success are interconnected, and that cooperative engagement often yields the best results.
Local Autonomy Within a United Framework
As UWGAB has grown, we’ve embraced a model that supports local autonomy within a united provincial structure. One example is the Dalco Employees’ Association — a fully autonomous local committee formed by the workers at Dalco. This local operates with its own leadership, manages its own finances, and makes independent decisions on matters such as collective bargaining, grievances, and day-to-day representation.
While the Dalco Employees’ Association governs itself, it remains a part of the broader UWGAB family. This partnership provides Dalco workers with the best of both worlds: the freedom to self-govern locally, while also enjoying the strength, legal standing, and resources of a recognized provincial union.
UWGAB continues to serve as the official bargaining agent under Alberta’s labour laws, ensuring all affiliated locals — like the Dalco Employees’ Association — are backed by province-wide legitimacy, support, and shared values.
